The number of passengers buying Riga public transport tickets via phone has increased
More passengers are buying tickets on their phones on Rīgas satiksme public transport. Currently, a third or almost 30% of passengers buy their tickets on their smartphones. Since the beginning of this year, both one-month tickets and time tickets, for which no discount applies, can be bought on a mobile phone.
At the beginning of this year, 19% of all passengers bought full-price tickets on their smartphone. This number has now increased by 10%, with 30% of passengers now buying full-price tickets on their smartphone.
Tickets bought on the phone must also be registered immediately when boarding Riga public transport. Similarly, passengers who buy a 90-minute ticket must register it every time they change vehicles.
The code ticket was implemented to give passengers a more convenient way to pay for their trip on Riga public transport. It allows passengers to pay for their trips online using a smartphone. More information about code ticket there.
